Move It or Lose It June 2026
The Scoop
I wish I had better news but at least I haven’t given up. I have officially been lifting weights seven months straight. Three to four times a week every week.
I have gained muscle and I have gained some weight. Until a week ago I had not seriously worked on a calorie deficit. I was eating very healthy 80% of the time. But I would probably once a week hit the sugar isle at the store.
Today is day six where I have been counting every calorie and staying in a slight deficit. I have not lost an ounce. Ha! Even just five years ago I would have lost two pounds in a week in a deficit. So yes, my body is telling me I am not a spring chicken any more.
But my mind is stronger. I read the research and it takes about three weeks to start losing fat. Argh so I am still determined to budge the scale.
Yes, I know I am gaining muscle and the muscle weighs more than fat. But my waist to hip ratio is in the unhealthy range and that is what I am battling.
I am eating the recommended macros too. So, I think it’s true as I have read. Your body is more stubborn to let go of weight as you age. It really wants you to have reserve in case disease sets in. I don’t care one bit anymore what I weigh. I care that I am not carrying dangerous fat around my stomach. That is what cause the diseases.
I wish I could have a discussion with my body. Maybe we could work something out. Ha ha!
And So It Goes
I was sort of down when I woke up this morning and realized a week of strict dieting had not made one once of difference. I thought about just giving up. But then, I once again came to the conclusion that I need to at least give it a few more weeks. I have stuck to the weight lifting for seven months, I can eat in a deficit a couple more weeks. You can check out my monthly Move It or Lost It posts if you missed them. That will catch you up to where I am today.
So off I went to get a couple of workout outfits to get me in the mode of move it or lose it.
My Look
I found these little workout dresses with shorts at Costco. With the black I wore my Hoka sneakers and a Tommy Bahama Aruba jacket. I have worn these knit jackets for twenty years and have them in so many colors.
With the light blue dress I wore bright red flip flops by Tory Burch and wore a Ralph Lauren cap. Light blue and Red is a very on trend color combination for summer this year. And I never would have thought of it. But I do love it!
Create Your Look
You can find the active wear dresses everywhere. They are so similar I don’t think you could tell one from the other. I am pretty sure Walmart has cute ones right now.
I am linking my exact sneakers, hat, flip flops and necklace. Also I am linking my same jacket in other colors. They are perfect staples in summer for carrying around to restuarants or cold spots. The quality is perfection.
I actually got some photo shoots in this week so I will have a couple more posts coming up.
Thanks for stopping by!
Peace.
