Fitness For Women Over 50 - Move It Or Lose It September 2023

Gosh I think staying fit gets harder with each passing year. This year I have been very consistent with exercise, hardly missing a day of either walking, yoga or weight lifting or a combination of those. My diet has been 80% good but the 20% wonky seems to have more of an effect than it used too. I still battle belly fat no matter what I do.

I read all the research and do all the things that are supposed to lower belly fat. I get good and consistent sleep. I eat healthy organic whole foods, and I exercise daily. I rarely drink wine or any alcohol and have never smoked.

The only thing I don’t have control over is hormones and I suspect they are the issue. I’ve been to the doctor and gotten so many different recommendations from to not take HRT to the types and dosages being all over the place. This has caused me so much stress which can also be a contributor to belly fat.

Are you with me? Let me know how you feel, do you have daily aches and pains or issues you deal with as you age? I want to know so I don’t feel alone! And my hair OMG, it has gone mad! My body aches all the time from exercising, it takes so long for my food to digest, I have carpel tunnel ……… No one warned me that so much could change.

Today I have a doctor’s appointment with an “Expert” in menopause. My second appointment. The first one made me feel like no one really has good data on the best things for women to do at this point in life. So, I am on fire several times a day, have high anxiety and belly fat. Ha ha! What a mess! My husband feels so bad for me that I feel sorry for him.

But it is what it is and I am going to keep moving and doing what feels right to me with input from healthcare providers for perspectives (they are not the law). I will be diligent with my checkups and regular tests and take what comes my way. There is no alternative but to give up. And I love life too much to do that!
