Fashion For Women Over 50 - Thrifted Designer Jacket by Mugler
The Scoop
Lately I have been into thrifting and consignment stores. My closet is full of fabulous things and I don’t need anything new so I love to look for surprising things.
If you want to see someone who inspires me in that direction you must watch “The Vintage Bombshell” on YouTube. OMG I could watch her with her mom/dad and her husband for hours. She and they are a delight that will bring a smile to anyone’s day. She has ten years of content so I always have something to watch when the realities of the world seem heavy.
Her name is Selena and her dives into all things vintage, thrifted, consigned, etc. has had me spending a few hours a week looking around our shops from a different viewpoint. And this week it paid off.
I was going through the clothes at a local thrift shop, specifically the jackets. I saw one that was very interesting. I looked at the label inside and saw that it was 100% calf skin and it was made in France. The label said Mugler and since I had never heard of it, I grabbed my phone to do a quick Google search.
My first hit showed leather jackets by this designer ranging from $500 to $25,000 and that was resale prices. This one was $12. Ha, as you can imagine after I tried it on, I skipped up to the checkout line smiling so hard my gallbladder hurt (that’s a thing for me).
When I got home and showed my husband, I did a little more research and found that this designer was not only interesting but big and that he had just passed away last year. You can read about him here.
I am not sure how much this jacket is worth but it is fabulously on trend right now. The red down the front is where the leather was cut and turned inside out. Argh so cute. It is cropped (on trend), neutral (on trend) and vintage (on trend). So, this is my biggest treasure yet in my thrift shopping adventures!
Selena would be so proud of me!
Thanks for stopping by!
Peace!

Linking my exact KUT Baby Boot pants (they come in many colors) along with so many corduroy options that come in more colors too. These pants never go out of style. I have been wearing them for years and usually add a new color each year. Corduroy is everywhere right now. From tops, pants, jackets to dresses it is a thing! My booties are Dolce Vita a great brand that also designs to stand the test of time.
Here are some floral blouse options.
Next linking some distinctive jackets. They must be popular because sizing is hit and miss.
