A Decade Of Move It Or Lose It
The Scoop
It was about eight or nine years ago when I started sharing my philosophy on health and fitness after 50. For me the most fun posts on my blog are all the Move It Or Lose It posts I do each year. It is so cool to look back on what I was thinking and doing.
Right now, I am considering my next direction on this fit for life journey. I am 62 now and it seems sometimes like life at this age is a field of landmines. A lot can go wrong and really it is only a matter of time when some illness or injury strikes.
Genetically I have a few things I should look out for such as an increased risk for breast cancer. We are just now suddenly hearing our breast density can increase the risk of breast cancer and that mammograms won’t necessarily detect it.
But this post is not about the scary side of increased birthdays gone by. It’s about all the fun I have had so far trying to stay active and healthy.
I won 1st place in my division in this 5K well into my 50s!

These are old pictures from posts of the past. I am gearing up for 2023 and trying to figure out what will be the most fun and beneficial in keeping me active and alert for the comming year!
My fitness posts are probably the closest look at who I am IRL. I am never sitting still if I am awake. Most days I hit 10 to 15 thousand steps without even thinking about it. I have always loved to cook and eat. I love nature and I love to laugh.
I love active wear and colorful exercise clothes. I love to be comfortable and I love to move. My mom always said over and over, “Cheryl has two speeds, running and asleep!” Moms always have a lot of good sayings!
Below is the here and now! I am feeling stiffer in the mornings than ten years ago but nothing makes me happier than a brisk walk, run or hike!
Do you have the secret to a long, happy and healthy life? Please share with the rest of us!
Peace!
